The purpose for this strategy is to enhance collaboration, share information and resources and collectively work towards common goals (collective action). The Coalition is established on the conviction that if CSOs and other none state actors passionate about SRHR come together, share information about SRHR, improve the knowledge and capacity of members, coordinate their efforts better and effectively and engage collectively; then CSOs and none state actors will be knowledgeable about SRHR, stronger, more vibrant, well equipped and structured to improve SRHR in Rwanda.
Therefore, Coalition members expect to benefit from increased access to information; experience sharing, increased efficiency through collective action; solidarity and support; capacity strengthening and increased visibility of issues, best practices, and underrepresented groups. Other anticipated benefits are risk mitigation, reduced isolation, and increased credibility, particularly for emerging activists and developing CSOs.
PROCESS OF DEVELOPING THE STRATEGY
The SRHR- Rwanda Strategy was developed through a comprehensive literature and consultations of CSOs that had already existing collaborative framework on SRHR. A consultation workshop was held in Rubavu with *** participants from ***CSOs with the main objectives of collecting CSOs views about the strengths and weakness of CSOs in in regard to the coalition. As a result, CSOs were able to conduct a SWOT analysis, identify risks and their mitigation measures. Therefore, this strategy has been greatly enriched by CSOs experiences and lessons learned. Indeed, the shared experiences and lessons learned confirmed the initial assumptions for and affirmed the relevance of this strategy.
